DHS Homecoming & Team Captain

Mom was chosen to be an honorary team captain for the homecoming game at DHS and I got to be there with her, I was so proud for her. All of the players & coaches wore pink arm bands to honor Mom & women who have fought breast cancer at this game

Breast Cancer Awareness Month & A Special Mom

Mom went to the Doctor this past Tuesday and got wonderful news. Dr. Lobo (her oncologist) told her that the most recent pet scan showed that she does not have cancer anywhere in her body except the right breast and that was an answer to many prayers. Mom will be having surgery soon (probably this next week) so please continue to keep her in your prayers.
We are all so proud of Mom's faith and how positive she is and how hard she is fighting this battle.
As I am sure many of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and so many people have done special things for Mom to honor her during October.
Decatur High School (which is where mom is a teacher) had a day to honor her this week and they raised money for one of the Cancer Treatment Center's in Mom's area and they raised over $300. The whole day was a surprise to her!!!
Also the DHS Football Team brought her a signed football from the team today to her house.
One of Mom's former students Jerraud Powers who graduated from Decatur High School , then went to Auburn and played football, now he plays for the undefeated Indianapolis Colts came to see Mom last week right after they played the Titans (and each player had to wear something pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness). So Jerraud brought Mom his gloves that he wore in that actual game, and he told her that he dedicated that game to her.

Just For Mom

Today was a great day, the weather was beautiful and there was a "Think Pink" walk for Breast Cancer Awareness in Downtown Opelika for the East Alabama area. The money raised from the walk goes to help women in this area get mammograms who otherwise would not be able to afford it. Abi and I walked together (and a friend of hers joined us), to honor our Mom.
Back in June when I started learning about this disease I realized that you can never be too careful and today my eyes were really opened to see so many people affected by this disease, but on a positive note there were A LOT of survivors there and my prayer is that next year Mom will be able to join us for the walk.
Here we are with the signs we wore on the back of our shirts, the signs say
"Walking in honor of my Mom"
Ashley (Abi's friend that joined us, thanks), Me & Abi

We had a great time being together and I have prayed all week for sunshine because the weather forecast was not looking good and the good Lord just blessed us with a bright sunshiny day and I as I stood there with my sister who is so special to me praying and clapping to the music, I just prayed that our Mother will be healed and that she will feel like herself again REAL soon.

WE LOVE YOU MOM!!!

LeeLee & Mom

I just wanted to give a short little update on mom, she is really keeping up the caringbridge site more than me because I am back home now and she knows more about how she feels, but I want to say that she is such an inspiration to so many people (especially me) and I admire her. I am sure that we will have a few bumps to come but she is keeping her head high and a great attitude and most of all she is trusting in the Lord and mom has a great faith in Jesus Christ
So here is mom in her new look---

She says that she looks like Demi Moore in G.I. Jane
and here she is in her wig, to me she looks no different with the wig on!!!
We love you and are praying for you everyday OUTLOUD Mom/LeeLee/Demi
